About daydreaming and the poetry of longing. Saudade.
Twelve people, twelve stories, twelve fears.
In our current increasingly complex world, it is not uncommon that people feel threatened or develop fears. Sometimes this fear takes a choking hold. Sometimes it hides itself and appears again in totally different situations. Sometimes its source lies in a real threat and sometimes its root is psychological. As different as the twelve people whom I have accompanied, are from one another, are the stories behind their fears.

Since I visited the Amazon for the first time in 2018, I have been coming back to this region regularly. I got to know the locals and lived in small communities in the middle of the rainforest. It is shocking how much the region has changed and what traces deforestation has left behind.
Varanasi. The smell of death hangs over this city. You can smell it as soon as you leave the airport. It is both - fascinating and a little frightening to walk past the "gats" with your camera. People believe that Varanasi is a holy city. And that the Ganges, into which the ashes of the cremated dead bodies are thrown, is a holy river whose bath is the most beautiful thing you can do in your lifetime. Varanasi is loud and colorful. Full of music and happy people. The locals I met here told me that they love their city and that there is no place in the world which is more beautiful than Varanasi.
